The following is a list of writing contests and publishing contests/events hosted by organizations outside of the South Bay Writers’ Club. Please read all the details at the links below and remember to exercise due diligence whenever choosing opportunities in which to participate.

The California Writers Club Marin is accepting short-short story submissions for a Flash Fiction Contest. Winners will receive certificates of excellence and will appear on our website and the statewide website.

Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest. Will award $3,500 to the best poem in any style and $3,500 to the best poem that rhymes or has a traditional style. The top 12 poems will be published online, and the top two winners will also receive two-year gift certificates from our co-sponsor, Duotrope (a $100 value).

The Missouri Review Jeffery E. Smith Editors’ Prize. $5,000 Fiction | $5,000 Non-fiction | $5,000 Poetry. Winners receive publication, promotion, and a cash prize. Every entry is considered for publication. Winners will be announce in early 2026.
