Executive Board Meeting
April 2, 2025
Minutes
Members Present:
Edie Matthews, Marjorie Johnson, Alice Wu, Una Daley, Shari Clare, Amanda Senior, Gerri Forté, Alfred Jan, Carolyn Donnell, Bill Baldwin, and Hal Schoolcraft.
Minutes from the March Executive Board were moved for approval by Shari Clare, seconded by Bill Baldwin, and approved.
April General Membership Meeting
The April General Membership Meeting will be held at the China Styxx Restaurant. The $30 per person cost will cover the meal. Participants will sign in and receive a meal ticket.
May Executive Board Meeting
The next Board Meeting will be an “in person “meeting held on April 27th from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the home of Edie Matthews. Note: This meeting takes the place of the May Executive Board Meeting.
June Executive Board Meeting
The June Executive Board Meeting will be a virtual meeting (ZOOM).
Upcoming Elections
The list of officer openings is listed on the website. We are waiting to hear from current officers if they will be available to continue in their various positions.
Bay Area Book Festival (Berkeley)
The SBWC has procured space at this event. Members who would like to present and sell their published books during this event will need to procure a temporary seller’s permit (no cost for the one day event), and they will need to pay state sales tax for items sold. So far, only Alice Wu has signed up to present her published work. The SBWC will provide 2 tables (loaned by Hal Schoolcraft and tablecloths donated by Edie Matthews). There is the possibility that SBWC will have club-related bookmarks available for disbursement as well.
Fall Workshop
Discussion was held regarding the possibility of a Fall Workshop hosted by SBWC. The timeline suggested is late September through early October. Members are asked to share suggestions of possible venues with Amanda Senior.
Finances

Website and Newsletter
Hall Schoolcraft reported that he has been able to add sections of Newsletter content to the website: e.g. View from the Board, Member News, Contests, Calendars, and others.
CWC Board – No Report
Open Mic
The April 4 th Open Mic will be in ZOOM format. The April 18 th Open Mic will be an “in person” session at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore on Stevens Creek beginning at 7:00 pm.
PR/Hospitality – No Report
Critique Group
We are still seeking a Critique Group Coordinator. It was noted that the June speaker will address the Critique Group advantages.
