WritersTalk Staff

Nina Amir, Contributing Editor

A friend asked me to join the SBW's editorial team at my first meeting, so I agreed figuring this was one way I could contribute to the club. I'd never been a member of a writing club before. The first month on the editorial team, however, the team itself helped me look at my own editing work, which proved invaluable. I've been a professional magazine, newsletter or freelance book editor since I graduated in 1982, which means I've edited a lot of copy, but grammar rules change over time—and so do style books. I love assisting WT contributors and working with other writers. That's how we all keep our craft honed.

Dick Amyx, Managing Editor

WritersTalk is not the province of a few. It belongs to all the members of SBW. It provides a service to the club by keeping members aware of club business, by publishing information about the craft and business of writing, and by offering a place to showcase members' works. It's my goal to make this service as valuable as possible to the members of SBW, and I invite each and every one of you to take full advantage of it.

Bill Belew, Contributing Editor

When Dick said they were looking for contributing editors I volunteered, not sure exactly what I was getting into. Thinking ahead has never been a strength so, I figured why not jump in with both feet. I am willing to share lessons I have learned on how to write what I want and get paid to do it. I am confident others who are much better writers than I can do the same. I'm glad to be a part of the effort and look forward to pitching in and getting tossed about wherever and whenever.

Carolyn Donnell, Contributing Editor

As a contributing editor for the last couple of years, I can witness first hand the editing abilities of the staff. I have enjoyed writing for the newsletter and have learned about aspects of the writing world that I might not have known without this experience. I hope to be able to contribute to that pool of knowledge whether I am officially on the staff or not.

Lisa Eckstein, Contributing Editor

I am a lifelong hunter of typographical errors, misused punctuation, and dangling participles. I'm happy to bring my tracking skills to WritersTalk and to have the opportunity to return to journalism after many years away. When not working on WT, I write novels, rewrite them, and revise again.

Andrea Galvacs, Contributing Editor

During my two years as contributing editor of WritersTalk I discovered that I enjoy proofreading and editing more than writing. Although English is a miserable language, I love it and am very finicky when it comes to grammar. Thanks to everybody's work the newsletter is a stellar one and my intention is to make it completely free of errors, that is, with all the t's crossed and the i's dotted.

Victoria M. Johnson, Contributing Editor

I am thrilled to join the WritersTalk team. Though it is hard work to produce the newsletter each month, it is also a lot of fun to meet with a group of writers with the common goal of creating something of value for
the members. I look forward to contributing articles for WritersTalk, reading members' work, and sharing this creative journey with you.

Jackie Mutz, Contributing Editor

As an editor for WT, I enjoy writing and editing/proofing fellow writers' work. It is an honor to be part of the WT; as Arnold said, it "pumps me up," making me ready to go write that great American poetry anthology in about one minute. I hope to be part of the WT editing staff who continue to create a snazzy little newsletter.
