SENTENCES ARE OUR BUILDING BLOCKS!
Use them to fashion exactly what you intend – eye-blinding color, paralytic fright, Venus beauty, edge of seat suspense, atomic anger… whatever your scene requires, a sentence or two will convey, and if the right ones, indelibly. Come to our Learning Center facilitated by Rich Burns, on second and fourth Thursdays of each month – beginning October 22 – but know that each lecture is independent of the others.
Learn or relearn about sentences from the gound up by watching and then discussing lectures on film from University Of Iowa’s Professor Brooks Landon. Sessions are planned to cover two 30-minute DVD lessons and will begin at 7:30pm, end 9:15pm.
As of March 18 we are rapidly finishing the second half of the 24-lesson series. Here’s what remains:
March 25 Lesson 15: Degrees of Suspensiveness. Lesson 16: The Mechanics of Delay.
Apr 8 Lesson 17: Prefab Patterns for Suspense. Lesson 18: Balanced Sentences and Balanced Forms.
Apr 22 Lesson 19: The Rhythm of Twos. Lesson 20: The Rhythm of Threes.
May 13 Lesson 21: Balanced Series and Serial Balances. Lesson 22: Master Sentences.
May 27 Lesson 23: Sentences in Sequence. Lesson 24: Sentences and Prose Style.
